Established in 1961, the Department of Political Science stands as one of the oldest and most distinguished social science departments in the institution. From its inception, the department has played a pivotal role in fostering a vibrant intellectual environment, offering both undergraduate and postgraduate programs that emphasize critical thinking, research and holistic student development.
The department proudly implements the Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUGP) under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and has recently expanded its postgraduate offerings. Over the decades, it has cultivated a robust alumni network, with graduates excelling in prestigious roles across civil services, teaching, judicial services, journalism (print and electronic media), defense forces, self-employment and beyond. This legacy of success underscores the department's commitment to producing socially responsible leaders.
