Nagaon University has been established by the Government of Assam through a legislative enactment known as the Nagaon University Act, 2023. The Act provides the statutory framework for the establishment, governance, administration, and academic functioning of the University. It defines the powers, roles, and responsibilities of the University authorities, academic bodies, and officers, and lays down provisions related to academic programmes, examinations, affiliations, finances, and overall administration.
