The Department of Sociology at Nagaon University is established in 2021 with Degree Programme. It is a scrupulous programme based on innovative pedagogical practices. Through meticulous teaching/training programmes and holistic education, the department is devoted towards creating competent and socially aware graduates. The course curriculum of the department at B.A (CBCS), level has been prepared keeping in view the manpower requirements in various industrial organizations and other departments of both public and private sectors. The department proudly implements the Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUGP) under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 in 2023.

Moreover, all the academic programmes are intended to provide a strong foundation of the students in the discipline of sociology. Students are always encouraging to engage themselves with contemporary concerns and issues of life throughout the understanding of different classical as well as modern and post-modern sociological interpretations.
